简介：本片以新年夜最后一列从巴塞罗那开往马德里的火车为背景，讲述了在列车因故障停在半道上，一位老年乘客又意外离世之后，乘客之间发生的各种诙谐滑稽的经历。\r故事刚开始，马诺洛心脏病突发安静地离开人世，而妻子特蕾莎并没有流泪痛哭，而是以一种抱怨多于怀念的语气回忆了丈夫的性格和生前的日子。马诺洛死后，大家并没有忙着安慰马诺洛的妻子，而是更关心尸体要怎么处理。最后吉列尔莫把老人的尸体搬到了另一节车厢。年末的最后一天，大家本该高兴地迎接新年的到来，可在如此恶劣的天气，列车就那么停在了前不着村后不着店的轨道上，乘客们变得愈加焦躁起来。其中，脾气最火爆的努里亚总嚷着要投诉，而温和的何塞•玛丽亚总想低调处事，自称政府官员的他们究竟又藏着什么样的秘密呢？无奈的等待中，餐食也能成为话题，一个阿拉伯小伙子不吃猪肉的习惯，另一名乘客由此产生的联想，一个极小的误会，戏剧性的配乐所营造的恐怖氛围，这一切最终将影片推向了高潮。车上一片混乱，事实和猜测已经模糊不清，努里亚掏出手枪来添乱，还笨拙地以为控制着车上的局面，大家扭打作一团。见此状，司机采取紧急措施，最后乘客们在萨拉的分娩中冷静了下来。一对双胞胎的出生更给影片的结局增添了几分喜剧色彩。而自始至终，车上最清醒的，似乎就是那位总在饮酒的醉醺醺的女士。\r片中穿插着各位乘客自述搁浅途中的感受，诙谐地将人与人之间的差异展现得淋漓尽致，其中不乏矛盾、幽默、讽刺，而最终列车长吉列尔莫和乘务员劳拉有情人终成眷属也给影片增添了一丝温馨。
